Beach

Sheringham beach is of European Blue Flag status and May to September is patrolled by lifeguards. From east to west there is a concrete promenade with access points to the beach. When the tide is out crossing the shingle bank onto the firm freshly washed sand enables bucket and spade to be used and family games to be played. Depending upon the tides rock pools appear where youngsters can use their nets to see the wealth of sea life that gathers in them.

Ice cream and snacks are available from several kiosks along the esplanade.

As the tide pushes you back up onto the promenade you can at times see the fishermen landing their catch or setting off.
The Henry Ramey Upcher lifeboat [Web site] is housed by the west slope and the the Fishermen’s Sheds next it are being converted for local craftsmen. Eastwards from these is The Mo that houses the town’s  other previous lifeboats and some fishing boats.

Above the promenade on the west end is and area of gardens for relaxing in; a children’s play area and a model yacht pond for those budding round the world sailors.

If you are swimming or using inflatable accessories please do take notice of the warning flags and notices that the lifeguards display.

Note that there are restrictions in force as to when and how dogs may be taken on the promenade and the beach.
