There are many many things to do and see in Great Yarmouth. Famous for its golden mile sea front and amusements there are two piers and a racecourse. Traditional shopping areas as well as seaside specialist shops make for interesting meandering.
A leisurely way to see the seafront is to take a ride in the horse drawn carriages. Also along the sea front are ornamental gardens to sit in and breather in the sea air.
The racecourse has meetings throughout the year and in the summer evening meetings take place. If you fancy a flutter then check to see if there is meeting during the period of your visit. Part of the oldest golf club in Norfolk is laid out in the centre of the race course. This is a flat links type course with gorse and tight lies on the fairway. Play to your handicap and you have done well.
Should a shower of rain make cover necessary on the South Quay is the NT Elizabethan House Museum. A sixteenth century quayside building. Further along South Quay is Great Yarmouth’s Row (English Heritage); the Tolhouse Museum; the Norfolk Nelson Museum and near by the Time and Tide Museum of Norfolk Life.
